At Georgia Boys State, we make up a 51st state. The delegates (boys) must form their own city government which includes things such as developing a budget and electing officials. Then they begin forming their county governments with elections and finally the third phase is the forming of the state government and the election of a Georgia Boys State Governor.

All of the things that go into running a government are encountered during this five day intense program of learning about government by BEING the government.

During this week, these young men are being observed and looked at by various members of the staff and two will be selected to attend Boys Nation where they will do the same things only at the national level. This is the premier program that the American Legion supports and allows us to instill in these young leaders the world they will grow into tomorrow.

Who is eligible? High school boys who are rising Seniors (completed their Junior year).

When is it held? Normally in June. For 2014 the dates are: June 15th thru June 21th.

Where is it held? Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA

How do I apply to be considered? Contact our Post 134 point of contact Sam Steger.
